Bachelorette Party Sashes: Slogans, Colours & DIY
Choosing bachelorette party sashes: popular slogans for the bride and her crew, colours and materials, what they cost, plus tips on buying or making hen party sashes.
A sash turns a group into a recognisable hen party crew in seconds, for a few euros per person. It’s cheap, quick to get hold of, can be matched to your colours and theme, or made yourself with little effort. Here is everything that matters: the best slogans for the bride and her crew, which material lasts, what a sash costs and when it’s worth making your own.
What makes a good bachelorette sash
A sash stands or falls on three things: material, lettering and fastening. For the material, go for tear-resistant satin or polyester with neatly finished trim. You will be wearing it for a long day and often half the night, and a flimsy paper sash soon looks the worse for wear. If you want to keep the sash as a souvenir, check that it’s washable too.
The lettering has to be readable from two metres away. A short, clear word like “Bride” or “Team Bride” works better than a convoluted joke nobody can make out in a dim bar. For the fastening you have a choice: sewn sits most securely, an elastic band adjusts to fit, and Velcro is practical but tends to come undone during wild dancing. For a night on the dance floor, the sewn or elastic version is the safer bet.
Bride, crew or everyone?
There is no right or wrong here. Usually the bride gets a sash of her own, perhaps in a different colour or reading “Bride” or “Bride to be”, while the crew wear matching “Team Bride” sashes. That way it’s obvious who the day is about, and the group still looks like a team.
Everyone can just as well wear the same sash if the group feeling matters more to you than singling out the bride. For big groups there are sets with one bride sash and several crew sashes in one pack, which usually costs less than buying them one by one.
The best slogans for a sash
Slogans range from simple to cheeky. These work particularly well on a sash:
- “Bride” / “Groom” (the unbeatable classic)
- “Bride to be”
- “Team Bride” / “Team Groom”
- “Bride Squad” / “Groom Squad”
- “Officially off the market”
- “Last night of freedom”
- “Here’s to the bride!”
- “Future Mrs [Surname]”

Colours and designs
Traditionally, the bride’s sash is white or rose gold, while the crew go for a strong contrasting colour such as black, pink or navy. All that matters is that the bride stands out and the colours go with the rest of the outfit. Popular designs besides the lettering are hearts, rings, champagne glasses, a tiara or small symbols such as anchors and horseshoes. If you like a personal touch, print the destination or an in-joke on it, for example “Bride Squad Mallorca”.
What a hen party sash costs
Prices depend mainly on whether you buy standard sashes or have them personalised:
- Simple pre-printed sashes from around €3 each
- Satin or polyester sashes with trim from about €6
- Crew sets in multipacks noticeably cheaper per person
- Custom-printed sashes with names or your own slogan from around €10
Ready-made sashes are usually available straight away. For custom-printed ones, allow two to three weeks’ lead time, otherwise it gets tight before the big day. To see how the sash fits into the overall budget, take a look at our overview of bachelorette party costs.
Buy or make your own?
Buying is quicker and looks neat; making your own is cheaper and more personal. For the DIY version, cut wide satin or polyester ribbon to about 150 cm and sew or knot the ends together at the back of the neck. Write on it with a fabric pen, iron-on letters or a design you print on transfer paper at home and iron on.
Let the paint and transfer dry thoroughly afterwards, or the lettering won’t survive a night of dancing. For a big group with an in-joke design, the crafting evening is half a pre-party in itself; if time is short, go for a ready-made set.
Alternatives to a sash
A sash is just one way of making the group visible. A printed T-shirt gives you more space for slogans and stays in the wardrobe as a keepsake. Smaller and more discreet are badges and pins, which quickly disappear into a pocket when a strict bouncer is on the door. For the bride, a sash pairs well with a veil and a headpiece; you’ll find more ideas in our guide to accessories and decorations.
