Stag & hen do planning tips

What does a night out cost?

A Grosses (0.5 l) costs CHF 8 on average in a restaurant, cocktails CHF 15–23 according to the menus, club entry CHF 15–40. All guide prices.

All costs and money-saving tips ↓

Getting home at night

On Fridays and Saturdays the ZVV night network runs from about 01:00, with night buses from Central about every 30 minutes, no surcharge. During the week the last trams leave at about 01:10. Taxi: 044 444 44 44 or 044 777 77 77.

ZVV night network ↗

How late are things open?

There's been no closing time since 1997. Without a permit, bars and restaurants close at 24:00; clubs have permits until the morning. Quiet hours start at 22:00, and in summer time at 23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Age at the door

Many clubs only let older guests in: at Hive women from 21, men from 23, at Kaufleuten from 23, at Barfly'z from 22 on Fridays and Saturdays. X-TRA and Exil only accept original ID.

What's banned in Zurich

Littering and peeing in public are banned. Fixed fines are CHF 80 or 120, and up to CHF 500 is possible. Beer and wine are sold from age 16, spirits from 18.

Getting there

From Basel in 53 to 56 minutes, from Bern in 56 minutes, and from the airport 10 to 13 minutes to the main station. From Munich it's around 4 hours on the EC. Long-distance coaches stop on Sihlquai, right behind the station.

Hotel for your stag or hen do

For groups, the Zurich Youth Hostel on Mutschellenstrasse has its own area for groups and clubs. In January the WEF in Davos also fills Zurich's hotels, so book early then.

Weather and plan B

July is the warmest month, averaging 19.2 °C, and around 1,022 mm of rain falls each year. Plan B: the thermal baths in the Hürlimann-Areal, escape rooms by the main station, laser tag or karaoke at Raum 84.
