Frankfurt Stag Do & Bachelor Party: Partying Between Apple Wine, the Main and the Skyline

Apple wine from the Bembel in Sachsenhausen, clubs in the Bahnhofsviertel, the skyline on the Main: here's how to put together your own stag do or hen party in Frankfurt, with the best things to do for groups of men and women alike.

Good to know

Stag & hen do planning tips

What does a night out cost?

Apple wine is the cheapest: a Schoppen (0.3 l) costs around €3. A draught beer (0.5 l) is €4–6, and club entry usually €8–20. All guide prices.

All costs and money-saving tips ↓

Getting home at night

On Friday and Saturday nights and before public holidays the U4, U5, U7, U8 and trams 11, 12, 16, 18 run all night every 30 minutes, and the S-Bahn hourly. During the week night buses replace the trains. Taxi: Taxi Frankfurt 069 230001.

RMV timetable ↗

Closing time

In Hesse there's only the closing period from 05:00 to 06:00, and none at all on the night to 1 January, at Fastnacht and on the night to 1 May. Outdoors there's no fixed time, but stricter noise limits apply from 22:00, and music is usually not allowed there.

What's banned?

The Bahnhofsviertel is a weapons ban zone: knives with blades from 4 cm are banned, and the police carry out checks. In Alt-Sachsenhausen the same applies on Friday and Saturday nights from 20:00 to 06:00. So leave pocket knives at the hotel.

Apple wine etiquette

Order a Bembel for the group; you drink from the Gerippte, the glass with a diamond pattern. Sauergespritzt means with sparkling water, süßgespritzt with lemonade. Handkäs mit Musik (sour milk cheese with onions) is eaten with a knife. At the long tables you'll often sit with strangers.

Getting there

By ICE you'll reach the main station from Cologne in just over an hour, from Hamburg and Munich in around 3 hours 20 minutes and from Berlin in 3.5–4 hours. From the airport, the S8 and S9 take 11–15 minutes into the city, and long-distance coaches stop on the south side of the main station.

Where to stay and trade fairs

Stay in Sachsenhausen or the city centre and you'll be home quickly. During the Book Fair in October, Ambiente in February and, every two years, Automechanika and Light + Building, hotel prices rise sharply. Check the trade fair calendar first.

Weather and plan B

Frankfurt is one of the drier cities in Germany, around 26 °C in July and August. July brings the most rain on average. Then try an escape room, laser tag, a karaoke booth or an evening at the Jazzkeller.

Budget

How much does a stag or hen do in Frankfurt cost?

Stick to apple wine and partying in Frankfurt is cheap. What gets expensive is rooftop bars and hotel rooms in trade fair weeks; that's the biggest lever.

Guide prices per person
OptionPer personWhat's included
One night out€50–100apple wine tavern with food, pub, club entry
A day with an activity€90–170plus laser tag, escape room, boat tour or cocktail class
Weekend€180–370two nights out, one activity, one night in a double room, travel not included

💡 How to save

  • Apple wine instead of cocktails: a Schoppen costs around €3, less than a draught beer.
  • Ebbelwei-Expreß: €8 for an hour's city tour, with apple wine and pretzels already included.
  • Apéro hours: at Ginkgo on Berger Straße, on weekdays from 16:00 to 18:00, spritz and gin and tonic at a special price.
  • Karaoke booth: in the MyZeil you pay for the booth by the hour, not per person, so the bigger the group, the cheaper it gets.
  • Avoid trade fairs: outside the Book Fair and big trade fairs, rooms cost a fraction.

Guide prices per person, based on the prices of the venues and tours on this page. The bride or groom usually doesn't pay; their share is split across the group. The planner above adds up what your programme costs.

Travel isn't included, as that depends on where you're coming from. Accommodation is based on the country's price level. Work out your own budget with the cost calculator.

When shouldn't you plan a stag do or hen party in Frankfurt?
In Book Fair week in October and during big trade fairs such as Ambiente in February or, every two years, Automechanika and Light + Building. Rooms are scarce and expensive then. During the Dippemess, Mainfest and Museumsuferfest the city is packed, but the festivals are worth it.
What can you do in Frankfurt when it rains?
Laser tag in the Ostend, escape rooms in the Bahnhofsviertel, at Hauptwache and in the Gallus, blacklight mini golf in Bornheim, the karaoke booth in the MyZeil, the Jazzkeller. And the apple wine taverns have rooms indoors; in winter the Citybeach becomes the CityAlm.
How early should you book?

Tables in the apple wine taverns and party packages at weekends one to two weeks ahead; the lounge in the Main Tower is reservation only. The Ebbelwei-Expreß takes no reservations on scheduled runs.
