Nuremberg Stag Do & Bachelor Party: Partying Where Rotbier and Bratwurst Are at Home

Rotbier and bratwurst in the Old Town, pubs in Gostenhof, clubs in the Südstadt: here's how to plan your stag do or hen party in Nuremberg yourself, with the best things to do for groups of men or a hen weekend.

Good to know

Stag & hen do planning tips

What does a night out cost?

A Rotbier in a glass mug costs €4.70 at the house brewery, a half-litre in a pub about €4.60–4.90. Cocktails in a cocktail bar are €12–13.50, a long drink in a club about €9.50. All guide prices.

All costs and money-saving tips ↓

Getting home at night

On Friday and Saturday nights and before public holidays the NightLiner buses run hourly from the main station from 01:00 to 05:00, and the S-Bahn runs extra trains until at least 02:00. There are no NightLiners during the week. Taxi: Taxizentrale 0911 19410.

VAG timetable ↗

Closing time

Indoors, Bavaria only has a closing time from 05:00 to 06:00. Beer gardens, terraces and everything outdoors in Nuremberg close at 23:00. So head inside in good time in the evening.

What's banned?

Around the main station, at the ZOB, in the Königstorpassage and on Aufseßplatz, drinking alcohol on the street is banned around the clock, with fines of up to €1,000. A weapons and knife ban zone applies there too. No beer for the walk when you arrive.

Bratwurst and Rotbier

Drei im Weggla means three Rostbratwurst sausages in a bread roll to eat on the go. The Nuremberg Rostbratwurst is protected, 7 to 9 cm long and grilled over a beechwood fire. Rotbier, a red beer, has been the city's beer since the 14th century.

Getting there

By ICE you'll reach Nuremberg from Munich in just over an hour, from Stuttgart and Leipzig in just under 2, from Frankfurt in just over 2 and from Berlin in 2 hours 45. From the airport the U2 takes 12 minutes to the main station, and coaches stop at the ZOB.

Where to stay and trade fairs

Stay in the Old Town or near the station and the NightLiner hub is close by. During the Spielwarenmesse toy fair and BIOFACH in February, embedded world in March and it-sa in October it gets expensive. Hostel beds start at about €12.

Weather and plan B

In summer it's around 26 to 27 degrees, and August brings the most rain. Then head underground: the rock-cut cellars and the nuclear bunker, plus escape rooms, laser tag or the leisure pool in Stein.
