💶
What does a night out cost?
A draught beer (0.5 l) costs around €5.20 on average, €3–6 depending on the venue. At O'Malleys, happy hour on all draught drinks runs from 20:00 to 21:00, and a schnapps in a traditional inn costs €4.50. All guide prices.
On Fridays, Saturdays and before public holidays, trolleybus lines 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 run every 30 minutes until 01:00. After that, the BusTaxi leaves from Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz for €4.50 per person, at weekends until 04:10. Taxi: 0662/8111.
Traditional inns and restaurants close at 02:00; bars, pubs and clubs may stay open until 04:00. Outdoor seating on public land closes at 23:00, on private land at 22:00, and loud singing is not allowed there.
⚠️
What's banned?
On Rudolfskai, drinking alcohol in the street is banned at weekends and before public holidays from 22:00 to 06:00, on Gstättengasse from 00:00 to 06:00, and at the main station every day. Fines up to €300. The Augustiner Bräustübl, a beer hall, takes no stag or hen groups.
🍺
Salzburg ways
At Stiegl-Brauwelt, on the tour without a guide, you pour your own beer at the self-service tap. Salzburg also brews wheat beer (Weissbier): Die Weisse on Rupertgasse has been around since 1901. Tipping is voluntary; 5–10% is usual.
🚆
Getting there
The Railjet Xpress takes 2 hours 25 minutes from Vienna, and two Railjets run every hour. From Munich it's around 1 hour 40 minutes. From the airport, trolleybus 10 gets you to the centre in 15 minutes; FlixBus stops at Salzburg Süd.
🛏️
Where to stay and when
Stay in the Old Town or around Linzer Gasse. Hotels average around €228 a night, hostels from around €55, and Saturday is the most expensive night. Book early for the Salzburg Festival from mid-July to late August and for the Easter Festival.
🌦️
Weather and plan B
Salzburg gets a lot of rain, most of it in July. The boats only run from late March to early November. If it rains: escape rooms, bowling, Paracelsus Bad with its sauna or Stiegl-Brauwelt.

How early should you book?
If your bachelor or bachelorette party in Salzburg falls during the Salzburg Festival, from mid-July to late August, or the Easter Festival, book accommodation early. Escape rooms can only be booked online; book tables at the brewpubs in good time at weekends, and the Bratl at Krimpelstätter a day ahead.
