Barcelona Stag Do & Bachelor Party: El Born, Gràcia and the Beach Clubs
Cocktails in El Born, clubs on the beach at Port Olímpic, tapas in the Gòtic and a boat off the coast: here's how to plan your stag do or hen party in Barcelona, with the best things to do, prices and night buses.
Good to know
Stag & hen do planning tips
💶
What does a night out cost?
A beer in Barcelona's bars costs €2.40 on average, a caña at Bar Calders €2.90. Cocktails are usually €8–12, and €15–20 in bars with a bit of a show. Club entry at Sala Apolo €10–20 with 1 drink, at Moog usually €5, €8 or €10. All guide prices.
The metro runs until 02:00 on Fridays and, according to the city, all night on Saturday nights, otherwise until 24:00. After that there's the NitBus: about 21 lines from about 22:30 to 06:00, mostly every 20 minutes, almost all via Plaça de Catalunya. Taxis at night and at weekends cost €2.80 plus €1.66 per km; a green light means the cab is free.
Bars and music bars may open until 02:30, and until 03:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and before public holidays. Nightclubs are open until 05:00, and until 06:00 on those nights. From 1 June to 15 September, bars get an extra 30 minutes and clubs an extra 45 minutes. Clubs like Sala Apolo don't get going until 00:30.
⚠️
What's banned?
Barcelona fines typical stag and hen props: penis hats, costumes with genitals and explicitly sexual accessories cost €120–300 after a warning, and so does walking around the city topless. Drinking on the street €30–100, peeing in public in nightlife areas up to €750. Organised pub crawls are banned, and organisers face fines of up to €3,000.
🍸
The night starts late
If you want to hit a club at 22:00, you'll find the door shut: Opium opens at 23:30, Moog at 23:59, and the club night at Sala Apolo starts at 00:30. Before that, tapas and vermouth belong on the programme, for example at Bar del Pla or Bar Calders, and cocktails in El Born.
✈️
Getting there
Direct flights take about 2 hours 10 minutes from Frankfurt, about 2 hours from Munich, 2 hours 22 minutes from Düsseldorf, 2 hours 47 minutes from Hamburg and 2 hours 56 minutes from Berlin. The Aerobús A1 runs round the clock to Plaça de Catalunya in about 35 minutes; metro L9 Sud from the airport costs €5.90.
🛏️
Where to stay
For a hotel for your stag or hen do in Barcelona, expect a good €210 per night on average in June, plus tourist tax, which in a 4-star hotel is €8.40 per person per night. Legal holiday apartments carry a licence number starting HUTB. During the Mobile World Congress in early March, with about 105,000 visitors, hotels are scarce.
☀️
Weather and plan B
August is the warmest month, averaging 24.4 °C, and January the coolest at 9.2 °C. October is the wettest with 91 mm, July the driest with 21 mm. In mid-August the sea is 25 to 29 °C. Plan B if it rains: the AIRE baths, an escape room, laser tag or bowling.

Budget
How much does a stag or hen do in Barcelona cost?
In Barcelona a beer costs €2.40 on average, a cocktail usually €8–12, and entry to Sala Apolo €10–20 with a drink. The hotel (a good €210 per night on average in June), the baths and tables at the beach clubs are what push the budget up; vermouth bars and small clubs like Moog keep it down.

Travel isn't included, as that depends on where you're coming from. Accommodation is based on the country's price level. Work out your own budget with the cost calculator.
