Kraków Stag Do & Bachelor Party: Kazimierz, Cellar Clubs and Vodka with Herring
Candlelit bars in Kazimierz, cellar clubs beneath the Rynek, vodka with herring, a shooting range and a boat on the Vistula: here's how to plan your stag do or hen party in Kraków, with the best things to do and prices in złoty.
Good to know
Stag & hen do planning tips
💶
What does a night out cost?
A beer (0.5 l) costs 12–18 zł in the Old Town and 10–16 zł in Kazimierz, a vodka shot 8–15 zł, or a flat 7–9 zł in shot bars. Cocktails 35–55 zł in the Old Town, 30–45 zł in Kazimierz, club entry usually 20–50 zł. You pay in złoty, and cards work almost everywhere. Tipping: 2–5 zł a round in bars, about 10% in restaurants.
Night lines numbered from 600 replace the trams from about 23:00 to 04:00, plus night trams 62, 64 and 69. A 60-minute ticket costs 8 zł, the 24-hour ticket 20 zł for Zone I. Bolt and Uber run at fixed prices; at night taxis charge at most 9 zł flag fall plus 6 zł per km in Zone I.
Shops across Kraków don't sell alcohol between 00:00 and 05:30; bars and restaurants aren't affected. Outdoor seating in Kazimierz closes at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, otherwise at 22:00. Indoors it carries on: Prozak 2.0 is open until 07:00 on Saturdays, Awaria until 06:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
⚠️
What's banned?
Drinking alcohol in public is banned in Poland, so no beer on the Rynek or by the Vistula. The police step up patrols in Kazimierz against rowdy stag groups. If you're driving: 0.2 per mille, on a bike too, and over 0.5 per mille you could face prison. An ID card or passport is enough to enter the country.
🥃
Vodka and zakąski
In zakąski bars your vodka comes with small cold snacks such as pickled herring, aspic, pickled cucumbers or steak tartare; the classic is herring with clear vodka. Shot bars such as Pijalnia Wódki i Piwa sell everything at one flat price, some of them round the clock in central locations. Nalewka is a home-made liqueur steeped with fruit, spices or herbs.
✈️
Getting there
There are direct flights to Kraków-Balice from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Memmingen, Munich and Stuttgart, plus from Vienna, Basel, Geneva and Zurich; from Frankfurt it takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. The airport is about 11 km from the centre, and the train to Kraków Główny main station takes about 17 minutes and costs 20 zł. By car: there are checks at the German-Polish border, so allow for waiting time.
🛏️
Where to stay
For a hotel for your stag or hen do in Kraków, the Old Town and Kazimierz keep everything close: Kazimierz is about a 15-minute walk south of the Old Town. In the first ring round the market square, everything is about 40 to 50 percent more expensive than a few streets away, and that goes for the bars too. If you're coming for the Christmas market or Juwenalia in May, book early.
☀️
Weather and plan B
July is the warmest month, with highs around 25 °C, and with about 98 mm also the wettest; in January the daily average is about −1.6 °C. Plan B: the Wieliczka Salt Mine underground, the Podziemia Rynku beneath the Main Market Square, escape rooms, bowling or indoor karting.

Budget
How much does a stag or hen do in Kraków cost?
In Kraków, a beer costs 12–18 zł in the Old Town and 10–16 zł in Kazimierz, and a shot in a shot bar 7–9 zł. The shooting range (the smallest package on Fabryczna starts at 140 zł), speakeasy cocktails and club booths are what push the budget up; shot bars, pierogi and zapiekanki on Plac Nowy keep it down.

Pod Wawelem on a Monday: that's when litre beers are half price.
Get to the club early: at Klub30, entry on Fridays before midnight costs 30 zł instead of 40 zł.
24-hour ticket: for 20 zł you can travel all day in Zone I, nights included.
