Palma de Mallorca Stag Do & Bachelor Party: Santa Catalina, La Lonja and the Harbour at Night

Tapas and rooftops in Santa Catalina, bars in La Lonja, clubs on the Passeig Marítim and a catamaran in the bay: here's how to plan your stag do or hen party in Palma, Mallorca: the best things to do, with or without the Ballermann party strip.

Stag & hen do planning tips

Getting home at night

The NitBus runs on Friday and Saturday nights and before public holidays from 23:30 to 06:30: N1 between Porta del Camp and the Passeig Marítim every 25 minutes, N2, N3 and N4 every 50 minutes, with the hub at Plaça d'Espanya. During the week the daytime lines run from 06:00 to 24:00. Taxis: Radio Taxi 971 764 545, at night a €2.85 base fare plus €1.35 per km, with a €3.00 supplement for 5 to 6 passengers.

EMT Palma lines ↗

Closing time

There's no fixed closing time for guests; the city enforces noise rules and venue opening hours with fines of €150–1,800. The clubs on the Passeig Marítim close around 06:00 (Fitz, Zar Society), Kaelum at 04:00 on Fridays and 05:00 on Saturdays, and the casino at 04:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.

What's banned?

At Playa de Palma the decree against excessive tourism applies: shops don't sell alcohol from 21:30 to 08:00, happy hours, pub crawls and party boats are banned in the zone, and balconing means you're thrown out of your hotel on the spot. In the city, bathing in fountains costs up to €750. Holiday apartments in blocks of flats aren't allowed in Palma, so book a hotel instead.

Tardeo instead of an afterparty

Palma parties in the afternoon too: for tardeo, the bars around the Hostal Cuba open around 16:00 on Saturdays, clubs like Kaelum from 17:00, it wraps up around 22:00, and if you come early you don't pay to get in. The season runs from autumn to spring, and the crowd is mostly local. The drink to go with it is pomada, Xoriguer gin with lemonade.

Getting there

Flying time from Frankfurt is about 2 hours 5 minutes, from Düsseldorf 2 hours 20 minutes, from Hamburg and Berlin 2 hours 40 minutes, from Zurich 1 hour 55 minutes and from Vienna 2 hours 35 minutes. From the airport, EMT line A1 runs to the centre, about €5 in cash; a taxi from the airport costs at least €16.95. The ferry from Barcelona takes about 7 hours.

Where to stay

For a hotel for your stag or hen do in Palma, Santa Catalina and the old town around the Born keep everything close: Hostal Cuba, Hotel Almudaina and Hotel Saratoga have rooftop bars in the building. Holiday apartments in residential blocks are banned in Palma, and such listings are usually illegal. Plan early around events like the Boat Show from late April to early May.

Weather and plan B

August is the warmest month, averaging 26.2 °C, and January and February the coolest at 11.9 °C; October is the wettest with 69 mm, July the driest with 6 mm, and the sun shines 2,779 hours a year. Swimming is on from May to October, with the sea at 25.8 to 26.2 °C in August. Plan B if it rains: the hammam, an escape room, bowling or Es Baluard.

Plaça de la Llotja
📍 Meeting points

Budget

How much does a stag or hen do in Palma de Mallorca cost?

In Palma a glass of beer costs €3.10 on average in Santa Catalina, a cocktail at Sky Area €8–12, and club entry at Kaelum about €15 with a drink. The catamaran (€85 for the Sea Day) and bottle service at the clubs on the Passeig Marítim are what push the budget up; tapas bars and tardeo with free entry keep it down.

Guide prices per person
OptionPer personWhat's included
One night out€50–110tapas, two bars and club entry in Santa Catalina or by the harbour
A day with an activity€120–220plus a catamaran, karting, an escape room or paintball
Weekend€200–400two nights out, one activity, one night in a double room, travel not included

💡 How to save

  • Tardeo with free entry: if you get to tardeo early on Saturday, you don't pay to get into Kaelum.
  • Tapas instead of a set menu: at Bar Dia 2 tapas per person are enough to start, and at Lórien a half pint costs €3.30–3.50.
  • Pay what you like at the museum: on Fridays you pay what you want at Es Baluard, otherwise €8.
  • Sunset instead of Sea Day: the sunset catamaran with Attraction Catamarans costs €60 instead of €75, the Sea Day €85.
  • Bus instead of a taxi: EMT line A1 from the airport costs about €5 in cash, a taxi at least €16.95.

Guide prices per person, based on the prices of the venues and tours on this page. The bride or groom usually doesn't pay; their share is split across the group. The planner above adds up what your programme costs.

Travel isn't included, as that depends on where you're coming from. Accommodation is based on the country's price level. Work out your own budget with the cost calculator.
