Bremen Stag Do & Bachelor Party: Partying Between the Viertel, the Schlachte and Beck's
Pubs in the Viertel, beer gardens on the Schlachte, clubs on the Discomeile and no closing time: here's how to plan your stag do or hen party in Bremen yourself, with the best things to do for groups of men or a hen weekend.
Good to know
Stag & hen do planning tips
💶
What does a night out cost?
A Haake-Beck Pils costs from €3.50 for 0.3 l, and up to €6 for a half-litre in the city centre. Cocktails around €9.50. Some parties start at €6 entry; the Tanznacht at Modernes costs €10. All guide prices.
On Friday and Saturday nights the night lines N1 and N3 to N10 run, with the main station as the hub. From Monday to Thursday services end around 01:30. The NachtTicket costs €12. Taxi: Taxi-Ruf 0421 14014.
Bremen has no general closing time for pubs and clubs, so your night has no fixed end. Only amusement arcades and betting shops close from 02:00 to 06:00.
⚠️
What's banned?
Between the main station, the Discomeile and Hillmannplatz, glass is banned from 22:00 to 06:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and before public holidays, with fines of up to €5,000. Weapons ban zones apply at the station, on the Discomeile and in the Viertel, with fines usually €325.
🧹
Sweeping the cathedral steps
Anyone in Bremen still unmarried at 30 sweeps the steps of the cathedral until someone frees them with a kiss. Friends scatter bottle caps for the job. Women polish door handles at the cathedral instead. It's easy to work into a stag or hen do.
🚆
Getting there
By train you'll reach Bremen from Hamburg and Hanover in just under an hour, from Cologne in just over 3, from Berlin in just under 3 with a change and from Frankfurt in just under 4 hours. From the airport, tram 6 runs to the centre every 10 minutes.
🛏️
Where to stay
Stay in the Viertel or the Old Town and it's a short walk home. Hostel beds in the Viertel start at about €14, budget hotels at €49. During the Freimarkt in October the city is full, so book early.
🌤️
Weather and plan B
May to September is the time for the Schlachte and the Weser, with an average of around 19 degrees in July. When it rains, there's laser tag, blacklight mini golf and escape rooms or the sauna at the Südbad, plus the Ratskeller under the town hall.
