Düsseldorf Stag Do & Bachelor Party: Partying Where Altbier and the Longest Bar in the World Are at Home
Altbier from the brewpubs of the Old Town, Rhine boats and clubs in the Medienhafen: here's how to put together your own stag do or hen party in Düsseldorf, with the best things to do for groups of men and women alike.
Good to know
Stag & hen do planning tips
💶
What does a night out cost?
An Alt (0.25 l) costs around €3, €3.10 at Füchschen. Cocktails are around €9–13, and parties and clubs usually €15–25 entry. The Köbes keeps topping you up until the beer mat goes on the glass. All guide prices.
On Friday and Saturday nights the U72, U75, U76 and U79 run as the NachtExpress between 01:00 and 05:00 every 30 minutes. The NachtExpress only runs at weekends; otherwise call Taxi Düsseldorf on 0211 33 333.
🕔
Closing time
In North Rhine-Westphalia pubs and beer halls only have the closing period from 05:00 to 06:00, and entertainment venues 01:00 to 06:00, unless the city sets something different. Each venue decides how long it stays open: Oh Baby Anna, for example, until 05:00, Fatty's until 03:00.
⚠️
What's banned?
In the Old Town and along the Rhine there's a weapons ban from 18:00 to 08:00 at weekends and before public holidays, including knives with blades over 4 cm, with fines of up to €10,000. Leave fake weapons at home. On Altweiber, carnival Sunday and Rose Monday there's a glass ban in the heart of the Old Town.
🚆
Getting there
By ICE you'll get there from Cologne in around 20 minutes, from Frankfurt in just over 1.5 hours, from Hamburg in just over 3 and from Munich in just over 4.5 hours. From the airport, the S 11 takes five to ten minutes to the main station, and long-distance coaches stop at the ZOB just north of it.
🛏️
Where to stay
Hotel or apartment, stay in the Old Town, the Carlstadt or by the main station and you'll be home quickly. A mid-range hotel costs around €95–130 a night on average. It gets expensive during big trade fairs such as the Caravan Salon in September, carnival and the Rheinkirmes.
🌦️
Weather and plan B
The warmest months are July and August, with highs around 24–25 °C; it rains all year round, most of all in September. When it rains: laser tag in Bilk, the game show on Klosterstraße, blacklight mini golf and VR in Gerresheim, or straight to the beer halls.
🍺
Beer hall etiquette
In the Old Town, Uerige, Füchschen, Schlüssel and Kürzer brew their own Alt, plus Schumacher on Oststraße. The Köbes (the waiter) brings the next glass without asking as long as there's no beer mat on top. Behind the tap stands the Zappes.

Budget
How much does a stag or hen do in Düsseldorf cost?
Alt is cheap in the beer hall; what costs money is accommodation and clubs. The prices below come from the menus and websites of the venues on this page.
Guide prices per person
Option
Per person
What's included
One night out
€50–100
beer hall with food, bar, club entry

💡 How to save
Alt instead of cocktails: a glass of Alt costs around €3 in the brewpubs, a cocktail three to four times as much.
Lunch in the beer hall: at the Schlüssel there's a lunch dish for €9.90 on weekdays from 11:30 to 15:00.
A mini keg for your accommodation: Füchschen sells five-litre mini kegs for €17.50, handy for pre-drinks.
Book the boat direct: the KD panoramic cruise from Burgplatz costs €20, the evening House Party €37.
Avoid trade fairs: during big trade fairs hotel prices go up, and according to a comparison site August is the cheapest month.
Guide prices per person, based on the prices of the venues and tours on this page. The bride or groom usually doesn't pay; their share is split across the group. The planner above adds up what your programme costs.
Travel isn't included, as that depends on where you're coming from. Accommodation is based on the country's price level. Work out your own budget with the cost calculator.

Questions
Düsseldorf stag do and hen party FAQ
Where can large groups book in Düsseldorf?
In the brewpubs: Uerige has rooms to reserve such as the Rittersaal and Stickum-Saal, up to 180 guests for a standing reception. The Schlüssel has function rooms, and Joh. Albrecht in Niederkassel rooms on two floors. At the Kürzer you reserve online, and for the same day by phone only. GolfZone takes up to 60 people.
Is a stag or hen party in Düsseldorf banned anywhere?
No. The limits are the weapons ban in the Old Town and along the Rhine, which at weekend evenings also covers pocket knives and fake weapons, and the glass ban during carnival. Clubs such as Nachtresidenz have a dress code, so check about themed T-shirts first. Uerige is closed on Rose Monday.
Is a stag do worth it during carnival or the Rheinkirmes?
For the atmosphere yes, for the budget less so: beds are expensive then and the Old Town is packed. On Altweiber, carnival Sunday and Rose Monday there's a glass ban, and Uerige stays closed on Rose Monday. During the Rheinkirmes in July the fireworks over the Rhine on the Friday are worth seeing.
How early should you book?
For a stag do or bachelorette party in Düsseldorf during trade fairs, carnival and the Rheinkirmes, book your accommodation as early as possible. Ask about private cocktail classes and rooms in the beer halls in good time before the weekend. The KD boats only run from late March to late October, and House Party dates go on sale early.
