Stag & hen do planning tips
💶
What does a night out cost?
A beer (0.5 l) costs 13–18 zł in pubs, 18–24 zł on Długi Targ and 18–26 zł in Sopot; vodka shots 7–10 zł, at the Pijalnia from 7 zł with zakąski; cocktails 25–45 zł in the Old Town, 35–60 zł in Sopot. Clubs in Gdańsk charge 0–30 zł entry, Parlament and Bunkier 15–25 zł, B90 40–120 zł depending on the event. You pay in złoty; tip about 10%, in cash.
12 night bus lines, N1 to N89, with the hub at the main station, all running via Podwale Grodzkie and Wały Jagiellońskie; the N3 runs to the airport every night from 23:00 to 04:00, and there's no night tram. The SKM runs to Sopot, with only a few trains at night, the last one on weekdays at about 00:30. Single ticket 4.80 zł, 24-hour ticket 22 zł; buy tickets in the app or by card on the bus. Bolt and Uber operate.
There's no closing time: Parlament runs until 04:00 or 05:00 at weekends, Bunkier until 04:00, the Pijalnia until 05:00 on Saturdays, Crackhouse at the shipyard until 08:00, and the Sopot clubs until 05:00 or 06:00. Shops and petrol stations across Gdańsk don't sell alcohol between 22:00 and 06:00; bars and restaurants keep serving. So stock up before 22:00, or stay in the bar.
⚠️
What's banned?
Drinking alcohol in public is banned in Poland, in streets, squares and parks, with a fine usually of 100 zł; there's no documented exception zone in Gdańsk, so not on Długi Targ or by the river either. If you're driving: 0.2 per mille. Smoking is banned inside bars and restaurants except in smoking rooms. Sopot clubs agreed to let in only over-21s or people with a student card; bring ID, and dress smart-casual at weekends.
⚓
Shipyard, vodka and Goldwasser
At the Gdańsk Shipyard around 17,000 workers went on strike in August 1980, and Solidarność was born here; today the city parties in the old halls on Ulica Elektryków, open air in summer. The second local speciality: vodka with zakąski, herring or aspic with your shot at the Pijalnia from 7 zł. Danziger Goldwasser, a herbal liqueur with gold leaf, dates back to 1598; if you say “dziękuję” when you pay, you're telling them to keep the change.
✈️
Getting there
Non-stop to Gdańsk (GDN): Lufthansa from Frankfurt in about 1 h 30 min, Wizz Air and Ryanair from Hamburg in 1 h 15 min to 1 h 20 min, Wizz Air from Vienna in about 1 h 40 min, plus seasonal flights with Eurowings from Düsseldorf and Swiss from Zurich. The EuroCity from Berlin takes about 5 h 25 min direct, from €27.99; FlixBus from Berlin takes about 7 h 35 min, from €25.48. From the airport, the PKM train with a change at Wrzeszcz or bus 210 gets you to the main station in about 40 minutes, 4.80 zł.
🛏️
Where to stay
For a hotel for your stag or hen do in Gdańsk, Główne Miasto around Długi Targ and Piwna keeps everything close, and Granary Island on Chmielna is right opposite; from the main station it's about a 1 km walk to Długi Targ. Hostels: Hostelworld lists 9, with dorm beds averaging about €14 a night. Busy weeks: St Dominic's Fair from late July to mid-August, Open'er in early July, Baltic Sail in August.
☀️
Weather and plan B
July is the warmest month, with a daily average of 17.7 °C, and with 79.4 mm also the wettest; January averages −1.4 °C. The Baltic swimming season at Stogi and Brzeźno runs from late June to late August. Plan B if it rains: bowling at Centrum U7, escape rooms and laser tag at Fun Arena, karting in the Galeria Morena, the sauna area at Aquapark Sopot or the Europejskie Centrum Solidarności.

Budget
How much does a stag or hen do in Gdańsk cost?
In Gdańsk, half a litre of beer costs 13–18 zł in pubs and 18–24 zł on Długi Targ, a vodka shot 7–10 zł, and a cocktail in the Old Town 25–45 zł. Charter boats, the karting Grand Prix and the cocktail class are what push the budget up; the Pijalnia, Ministerstwo Śledzia, bowling packages and escape rooms priced per group keep it down.
