Discobus

The Discobus runs daily from 1 June to 30 September: D1 Sant Antoni – UNVRS – Amnesia – Pacha – Eivissa, D2 Platja d'en Bossa – Eivissa – Pacha, D3 Sant Antoni – Platja d'en Bossa with DC-10, Ushuaïa and Hï. A ride costs €3.00 to €5.60, about every 30 to 45 minutes in high season. For the closings in early October only D1 and D3 run.

Discobus timetable

Taxis

Taxi ranks: Eivissa +34 971 45 45 45, Sant Antoni +34 971 34 37 64, Sant Josep and the airport +34 971 80 00 80. By day a ride costs a €4.00 base fare plus €1.21 per km, at night €1.38 per km. From the airport to Eivissa, expect €19–22; in July, August and September there are often long queues there.

The door and getting in

The clubs open between 23:00 and midnight, and the longest queues are between 01:30 and 03:00; early-entry tickets are often only valid until 01:00. At Ushuaïa you only get in if you're over 18 with original ID, and not in flip-flops or swimwear. At Chinois and in the VIP area at Pacha, men need long trousers.

Rules and bans

In designated zones of Sant Antoni, drinking on the street is banned, with fines of €500–1,500; shops there don't sell alcohol from 21:30 to 08:00. Going shirtless or in a bikini away from the beach costs up to €300. At O Beach, stag and hen accessories and costumes are banned.

Getting there

The flight takes about 2 hours 30 minutes from Frankfurt, 2 to 2.5 hours from Munich. The airport is about 7 km south-west of Ibiza Town; the express bus AERO3 runs to Eivissa harbour, AERO5 to Platja d'en Bossa and AERO1 to Sant Antoni, from €3.50 by card. The fast ferry from Dénia takes 2 hours to 2 hours 15 minutes.

Where to stay

For a hotel for your stag or hen do in Ibiza, location is everything: in Eivissa you're close to the old town, the marina and Pacha, on Platja d'en Bossa you can walk to Ushuaïa and Hï, and in Sant Antoni you have the Sunset Strip, Es Paradis and Eden. Holiday lets of apartments in blocks of flats aren't allowed in Ibiza, so only book licensed accommodation.

Season and weather

The big clubs party from the opening parties at the end of April to the closings between late September and mid-October; from November to April they're closed, but bars and restaurants stay open. Average daytime temperatures are 23.3 °C in May, 30.7 °C in July and 23.5 °C in October; the sea is 26.7 °C in August.

Budget

How much does a stag or hen do in Ibiza cost?

Ibiza is expensive: club tickets usually cost €40–100 in advance, a beer in a club €12–17. It gets cheaper with the Discobus instead of taxis, advance tickets and parties in Sant Antoni, where Es Paradis and Eden cost less than the big clubs.

Seasonal highlights in Ibiza

These dates come round every year. If your weekend falls on one of them, the island will be packed. If you'd rather keep things relaxed, plan around them.

April to May

🎉 Opening parties

At the end of April comes the IMS finale, after which UNVRS, Amnesia, Pacha, Ushuaïa and Hï open the season; high season starts in mid-June.

May

🏰 Eivissa Medieval

In the second week of May, Dalt Vila turns into a market with crafts, food, music and shows for 4 days, daily from 10:00 to 22:00.

August

🎆 Festes de la Terra

In early August Eivissa holds its town festival; for Sant Ciriac on 8 August there are fireworks over the harbour at midnight.

August

🎇 Sant Bartomeu

On 24 August Sant Antoni celebrates its patron saint with a procession and ball pagès, and at midnight fireworks light up the bay.

September to October

🔚 Closing parties

The closings start from mid-September, and the superclubs shut around the second week of October; the Discobus then only runs on D1 and D3.

Year-round highlights

  • Dalt Vila

The fortified upper town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999; the Renaissance walls were built between 1554 and 1585, and the cathedral and the Almudaina castle sit at the top.

  • Mercat Vell

The neoclassical market with its columned facade on Plaça de la Constitució sells olive oil, salt and seasonal produce from the island.

  • Hierbas Ibicencas

Anise-based herbal liqueur with up to 30 wild herbs, drunk as a digestif or an ice-cold shot; the bartender often stands you one, and many places make their own hierbas caseras.

Questions

Ibiza stag do and hen party FAQ

Are stag and hen parties banned in Ibiza?
No, but there are rules: in designated zones of Sant Antoni, drinking on the street is banned, with fines of €500–1,500. Party boats may not come closer than 1 nautical mile to these zones. At O Beach, stag and hen accessories, costumes and inflatable props are banned.
How early should you book clubs and tables?
As early as possible: online tickets cost €5–15 less than on the door, and at UNVRS prices go up with each release. Mondays at DC-10 often sell out, and summer bookings at Lío are often gone by June. In August the queues are longest between 01:30 and 03:00.
Where can large groups eat and party in Ibiza?
Can Pujol in Port des Torrent has about 150 seats and is open all year except on Wednesdays. At Café del Mar, groups of more than 20 enquire via a form, and Ibiza Boat Club gives a discount for groups of more than 8. For the dinner show at Rigatoni, book one table for the whole group.
What are good things to do for a hen party in Ibiza?
For a bachelorette party in Ibiza: a walk through Dalt Vila with sangría, the dinner show at Rigatoni at Marina Botafoch, cabaret with a club at Lío, lunch at Nassau Beach Club and sunset at Café del Mar. If you want to dance by day, head to Ushuaïa from 17:00 to 23:00.
Is Ibiza worth it outside the club season?
Not for the superclubs: from November to April the big clubs are closed, and some only open for Halloween, New Year's Eve and Easter. Bars and restaurants stay open, and Sigma in Eivissa has a programme in October and November too. In October the sea is still 21.1 °C.
