Stuttgart Stag Do & Bachelor Party: Partying Between the Vineyards, the Theo and the Kessel
Wine taverns in the Bohnenviertel, bar hopping on the Theo and the Viertele as the measure: here's how to put together your own stag do or hen party in Stuttgart, with the best things to do for groups of men and women alike.
Good to know
Stag & hen do planning tips
💶
What does a night out cost?
A half-litre costs around €5–6.50, a Viertele €5.50–8. For cocktails and long drinks reckon on €10–16. Club entry is usually €7–23, and in many bars on the Theo you pay none. All guide prices.
On Friday and Saturday nights and before public holidays the S-Bahn runs hourly all night. The night buses N1 to N10 leave from Schlossplatz, at weekends at 01:20, 02:00, 02:35, 03:15 and 03:50, during the week at 01:20, 02:35 and 03:50. Taxi: 0711 55 10 000.
During the week the closing period starts at 03:00, and on Friday and Saturday nights not until 05:00; at 06:00 it's over. Venues can apply for a shorter closing period. During the week the Stadtbahn and S-Bahn run until about 01:00.
⚠️
What's banned?
Large parts of the city centre are a weapons and knife ban zone on Fridays and Saturdays from 18:00 to 08:00, however short the blade, with fines of up to €10,000. Peeing in public costs up to €5,000. Neither glass nor your own drinks are allowed at the Volksfest.
🚆
Getting there
From the airport, the S2 and S3 take 27 minutes to the main station, and the U6 Stadtbahn about half an hour. Long-distance coaches stop at the bus terminal at the airport and in Vaihingen. At the main station, construction for Stuttgart 21 is under way, so meet at the station tower.
🛏️
Where to stay
Hotel or hostel, stay in the city centre or the south and you'll be home quickly. Dorm beds start at about €13, plus a €3 overnight tax per person per night. For the Volksfest, Spring Festival, Weindorf and big trade fairs such as the CMT in January, book early.
🌦️
Weather and plan B
In July and August average highs are around 25 °C, but May to July are also the wettest months. When it rains: escape rooms on the Theo and Hirschstraße, bowling on Schloßstraße, blacklight mini golf in Zuffenhausen or jazz at the BIX.
🍷
Viertele and Besen
Wine here is drunk as a Viertele (0.25 l), often Trollinger or Lemberger. A Besenwirtschaft only serves its own wine, opens for no more than four months a year and has no more than 40 seats. The dates are listed by the wine estates; call ahead for groups.

Hans-im-Glück fountain
📍 Meeting points
Fountain on the square on Geißstraße, unveiled in 1909 to mark the end of the old town's redevelopment: Hans (Lucky Hans from the fairy tale) with a pig and ducks, surrounded by six bronze medallions telling the story. Bars, restaurants and clubs line the square, a good meeting point.
Theodor-Heuss-Straße (the Theo)
📍 Meeting points
Theodor-Heuss-Straße between Rotebühlplatz and Friedrichsbau is what the city's marketing calls Stuttgart's party strip, and it gets busy above all at weekends. In many bars you pay no entry. Beneath the street, the S-Bahn stops at Stadtmitte station.
Schlossplatz
📍 Meeting points
Central square with the New Palace and the Jubilee Column right on Königstraße; in summer people lie on the grass. The Stadtbahn stops beneath it. All night buses leave from the Schlossplatz stop, so the square works as an end point too.
Wilhelmsplatz
📍 Meeting points
Square at Hauptstätter Straße and Wilhelmstraße in the Heusteigviertel, where it meets the Bohnenviertel. The Schwarz Weiß Bar is a few steps away, and the wine taverns of the Bohnenviertel are within walking distance. A handy meeting point in the south of the city centre.
Rotebühlplatz
📍 Meeting points
Square at the southern end of Theodor-Heuss-Straße with the exits of Stadtmitte S-Bahn station, where all lines on the core route stop, one stop from the main station. Plus Stadtbahn and buses. From here you head up the Theo.
Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (main station)
📍 Meeting points
Bonatz building with a 56-metre tower topped by the Mercedes star on Arnulf-Klett-Platz. Construction for Stuttgart 21 is going on around the station and the routes keep changing, so meet at a fixed point such as the tower. By S-Bahn it's one stop to Stadtmitte.

At Sophie's Brauhaus you ask from ten people. Wonders has lounges for eight to 15 people.
Is a stag do in Stuttgart banned anywhere?
There's no ban, and no general ban on drinking in streets and squares either. The limits are set by the venues: at Boa larger groups have to register in advance, otherwise the door may turn them away. Weinhaus Stetter only takes reservations for four to 15 people. At Perkins Park even a ticket doesn't guarantee entry.
How early should you book?
For a stag do or bachelorette party in Stuttgart during the Volksfest, the Spring Festival, the Weindorf and big trade fairs, book your accommodation as early as possible. Ask early about the exclusive cocktail class at the Schwarz Weiß Bar; open dates are often booked up. Concerts at the BIX often sell out. Escape rooms and club lounges in good time before the weekend.
What works for a hen party in Stuttgart?
A day between the vineyards and the bar: a wine walk with a tasting, the exclusive cocktail class on Wilhelmsplatz, blacklight mini golf in Zuffenhausen or half a day at the Mineralbad Leuze. In the evening, cocktails without a menu at Lennart or wine and small plates at Brother Louis by Marienplatz, then the three areas at Wonders.
