A lager (0.5 l) costs around €7.60 to €7.80 in bars on Stratumseind and at Strijp-S, and a litre in the beer garden €14.80. Cocktails start at €7 at Santiago de Cuba, €14.50 to €17 at Vane Skybar. Clubs set entry prices per event. At Café Costa, beer & pizza costs €19.50 per person.
All costs and money-saving tips ↓There's no regular night bus in Eindhoven. The city has two stations, Eindhoven Centraal and Strijp-S, and Intercity and Sprinter trains stop at both. From Stratumseind you walk to the central station; late at night it's a taxi or Uber. The NS journey planner shows the last trains.
Getting around with This is Eindhoven ↗The pubs on Stratumseind close at 04:00 sharp, including on Thursday nights; a trial with an entry stop has ended. De Club on Dommelstraat parties until 06:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Effenaar lets nobody in after 03:00, Vibes after 02:00.
Drinking alcohol on the street is banned in more and more public places in Eindhoven, and the fine is €110. So drink your outdoor beer on a terrace. At Vibes events, if you leave the site you usually can't get back in. At the Rage Room, drunk people are turned away.
Night programmes at Effenaar and Vibes are from 18 with ID only. Both ban clothing that identifies a group in their house rules, mainly meaning motorcycle club vests and football shirts; if you're wearing matching stag or hen shirts, ask first. Effenaar takes no cash, only card or phone.
From Düsseldorf take the hourly RE13 to Venlo and change there to the NS Intercity, with 7 minutes to change, around 1 hour 50 minutes in total. From Eindhoven Airport, buses 400 and 401 take around 15 minutes to the central station, every 10 to 15 minutes during the day.
For a hotel for your stag or hen do in Eindhoven: according to momondo, hostels are mostly around €42–53 a night. Hotels in the centre start at about US$94 per room, and Hotel Piet Hein Eek at about US$178. On top comes €5.25 tourist tax per person per night.

Beer pub on Stratumseind, right next to Café Costa. Open Fridays from 18:00 to 02:00 and Saturdays from 15:00, closed on Mondays and Sundays. Other times are available on request, handy for a group that wants to start earlier in the evening.
Cocktail and wine bar on Grote Berg in the Bergen quarter; the cocktail, wine and food menus are online. Fridays from 16:00 to 01:00, Saturdays from 14:00, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. A quiet opener before you move on to Stratumseind.
Bar on Kleine Berg with an all-in drinks package for groups: 3 hours of beer, wine and soft drinks for €50 per person, each extra hour €16. A maximum of 20 people on Fridays and Saturdays, up to 80 during the week. Fridays 16:00 to 02:00, Saturdays from 13:00.

Event and sports centre in the former Beursgebouw for up to 12,500 guests, with halls like The Main and The Cave. Parties mostly on Saturdays from changing promoters, often hardcore, hardstyle or classics. At night from 18 with ID, entry only until 02:00.
Music venue on Dommelstraat, around 150 m from the central station, with gigs and occasional club nights like Club X. Night programmes from 18 with ID, no entry after 03:00. Payment by card or phone only, and there are lockers instead of a cloakroom.
Cinema, club, event space and café-bar in one building on Keizersgracht. On some Fridays and Saturdays there are club nights like Club Zer00s, with entry depending on the event. Tickets online or at the box office, including for comedy nights.
Event hall in the former Philips factory halls on Strijp-S for up to 9,000 visitors. There are no club nights of its own: big events from dance to hardstyle come from outside promoters, and tickets are sold through them. Worth it if your weekend falls on an event.
Club room in the basement of the Dynamo music centre on Catharinaplein, at the start of Stratumseind, with its own programme, HAVEN, for techno and drum & bass. Club nights are irregular, with tickets per event via Ticketmaster. More one for the fans among you.
Leisure centre on Vijfkamplaan for groups of up to 200 people: Prison Island, axe throwing, curling, shuffleboard and karaoke under one roof. Dedicated stag and hen packages from €32.50 to €68.50 per person, such as around 1.5 hours of Prison Island with axe throwing and bitterballen for €59.50.
Blacklight mini golf with 18 holes at the Hollywood Event Center; a round takes 45 to 60 minutes, €10.95 per person from age 13. The operator explicitly mentions stag and hen parties; GlowGolf with karaoke costs €134.70 for 6 people. Fridays and Saturdays until 00:30.
Indoor karting track on Vijfkamplaan: 650 m of track with 12 corners on 2 levels. Group packages for 8 to 250 people, which you can combine with axe throwing at the Axe Bar and food. Fridays from 13:00 to 23:00, Saturdays from 12:00; prices are listed in the packages.
Bowling centre on Vijfkamplaan with 26 lanes, plus a laser tag arena and a grill restaurant with table grills in the same building. Combo deals and group offers can be booked. Karting, Prison Island and blacklight mini golf are right next door, which suits an action day.
Escape operator in the Klokgebouw on Strijp-S with 4 escape rooms, such as Disco Inferno and Crime Lab, and 4 escape games like Casa de Papel. From €17.50 per person, with dedicated packages for large groups. After the game you're right in the district with the beer garden and brewery.
Two escape rooms on Voorterweg, around 800 m on foot from Stratumseind: 2 to 8 people per room, larger groups up to 54 on request. After an introduction of around 15 minutes you have 60 minutes; with 8 people it costs €18 a head. From age 14.
Distillery on Kanaaldijk-Zuid on the former Campina site, with a bar and a terrace. The tour with 3 tasting glasses takes around 45 minutes and costs €15, the gin workshop with your own bottle 2.5 hours for €47.50. Booking is compulsory for everything.
Studio on Leidingstraat on Strijp-S for painting and pottery with wine: a session lasts 2 hours and costs €42.50, and at Clay & Sip you model first, then paint. Your own group books a private event via the form; mostly English is spoken.
Museum in Philips' first light bulb factory on Emmasingel, where carbon filament lamps were made from 1891. Groups book guided tours by phone on +31 6 29123086, and tickets are in the web shop. A piece of city history before you head to the bars on the Markt.
Museum in the Evoluon, the domed building like a flying saucer, 77 m across, opened in 1966 for Philips' 75th anniversary. The programme includes a Quantum Escape Room with fixed time slots. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00.
Museum of modern and contemporary art on the Dommel, opened in 1936, with works by Picasso and Kandinsky and a large El Lissitzky collection. Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00; book your own group tour at least 2 weeks ahead.
Steak restaurant on Kastanjelaan on the edge of Strijp-S, near the Philips Stadion. The ossenhaas biefstuk costs €26.50 according to the chain's menu. Up to 15 people book online, and there are group packages for more; Fridays and Saturdays until 22:00.
Restaurant in the former engine room on Strijp-S, opposite Strijp-S station. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 17:00; book online, by phone on 040 78 00 971 or by email. De Kookfabriek also runs cooking workshops there.
Grand café in designer Piet Hein Eek's complex west of Strijp-S, open daily from 12:00 to 18:00 and on Fridays until 23:00, with a changing dish of the day on Fridays. Groups book by phone only on 040 4009005; smaller tables are available online.
Thai restaurant right on Stratumseind, in the middle of the nightlife strip. Mondays and Wednesday to Friday from 16:00 to 22:00, from 12:00 at weekends, closed on Tuesdays. Book tables online or by phone on 040 844 1704 before the pubs fill up.
Ramen restaurant with two branches in Eindhoven, at Nieuwstraat 20–24 and Kerkstraat 26. Open from 12:00 to 21:00, until 21:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. Phone and email aren't for bookings, so it's more a quick lunch for small groups.
Café-restaurant in the former boiler house on Strijp-S. Groups can hire the upper floor, a corner of the restaurant, the terrace or the whole building, with catering from snack boards to dinner or a BBQ. For private parties a bar, dance floor and DJ are possible.
Lobster and seafood place on Kleine Berg with wines and cocktails. Half a lobster costs €27.50, a whole one €49.50, the lobster soup €12.50. Open daily from 12:00 to 23:00, bookings via WhatsApp; a dinner stop before the bars.
Food hall with 20 food concepts under one roof, according to OpenStreetMap on Smalle Haven just behind Stratumseind. Everyone in the group gets what they fancy, and you eat together. Check the opening hours beforehand; we don't link to a website.

The Markt has been Eindhoven's trading centre since the town gained its town and market rights in 1232. Today grand cafés, restaurants and terraces frame the square, and there's a small antiques market on Saturdays. From here you're a few minutes from Stratumseind.
The pub street is only 225 m long and runs from the Catharinakerk to the Dommel bridge, with around 50 bars, cafés and restaurants. Since the 1970s it's been one pub after another; locals just call it Stratum. It's over at 04:00.
Square on Willemstraat, a little away from Stratumseind and the shopping area, with brown cafés, often live music, and terraces; in summer there are outdoor concerts. The best-known spot is Café Wilhelmina, and most cafés also serve food outside.
Square in front of the Sint-Catharinakerk at the start of Stratumseind. Excavations under the square uncovered hundreds of skeletons, including the reconstructed Marcus van Eindhoven. The church is regularly one of the highlights of the GLOW light festival in November.
Square between the central station and the shopping area, named after Eindhoven's liberation on 18 September 1944. On Tuesdays there's a weekly market here from 09:00 to 16:00, and beneath it is the de Tube bike garage for about 1,250 bikes. The first meeting point if you come by train.
Square on Strijp-S, Philips' former industrial site, named after the 1929 boiler house; next to it stands the Klokgebouw from 1928. Big events take place here several times a year, and in October the district is one of the main venues of Dutch Design Week.

Eindhoven parties in a small area: Stratumseind, the Markt and the Bergen quarter are a few minutes' walk apart, with the clubs around the central station. Strijp-S is one stop by train, and the action day on Vijfkamplaan is a bus ride away.
For party cafés, cocktails and live music
Stratumseind packs around 50 venues into 225 m: beer & pizza and sports tables at Café Costa, cocktail workshops at Thomas, Cuban drinks and salsa at Santiago de Cuba, live gigs at Stage Music Café. On Fridays and Saturdays all four are open until 04:00.
For an Irish pub, a cinema club and cocktails
Between the Markt and Stratumseind the evening starts more quietly: live music and more than 20 beers on tap at O'Sheas, a round at Drinkers Pub on Kerkstraat, cocktails at Mundial on Smalle Haven. At LAB-1 on Keizersgracht there are club nights on some weekends.
For a wine bar, lobster and a music café
In the Bergen quarter things are more relaxed: cocktails and wine at No. 12 on Grote Berg, lobster at the Kreeftenbar, an all-in drinks package for the group at Bar Proast on Kleine Berg. On Wilhelminaplein, Café Wilhelmina has regular live music.
For a beer garden, a brewery and escape rooms
On Strijp-S, Philips' former factory site, you party in industrial halls: a beer garden for up to 300 people, beer tastings at Proeflokaal het Veem, dinner in the engine room at Radio Royaal, escape rooms in the Klokgebouw. Strijp-S station is right next to it.
For club nights, gigs and a rooftop
Around the central station things get loud: De Club on Dommelstraat parties until 06:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, Effenaar next door has gigs and club nights, and Vibes in the former Beursgebouw hosts big parties. Before that, there are cocktails above the rooftops at Vane Skybar.

Seasonal tips
These dates come round every year. If your weekend falls on one of them, the city will be packed. If you'd rather keep things relaxed, plan around them.
In February or March, from Sunday to the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, Eindhoven becomes Lampegat; everyone dresses up, and without ID you often won't get in.
On 27 April the whole country celebrates King's Day with the Vrijmarkt flea market and lots of orange; if it falls on a Sunday, it's moved.
From 18 September a route around 22 km long lights up to commemorate the liberation, daily from 19:00 to 22:30 and free of charge.
On the second weekend in October the marathon runs through the city, followed by an afterparty.
Nine days in October with more than 2,500 designers at 120 locations, with Strijp-S as one of the main venues; around 350,000 visitors are expected.
Eight days of light art in November, free of charge, in Eindhoven and neighbouring towns like Veldhoven and Helmond; the Catharinakerk is regularly part of it.
Eindhoven calls itself De Lichtstad: Philips started in 1891 as a light bulb factory, and the Philips Museum now occupies that first factory building.
The Philips Stadion, with 35,119 seats, is around 900 m from the central station; at the PSV museum and on the stadium tour you see the pitch and the tunnel.
Philips' former factory site is now a district with a brewery, a beer garden, restaurants and the Klokgebouw from 1928, with its own station, Strijp-S.
